The North American Mission Board assists southern Baptists in their task of fulfilling the Great Commission in the United States, Canada and their territories through a national strategy for sharing Christ, starting churches and sending missionaries, in cooperation with Acts 1:8 Partners.
 
NAMB was formed in 1997 and is supported by Southern Baptists through the Cooperative Program and the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering. The primary task of NAMB is to share Christ and to start new churches in North America.

Ministry Highlights:

  • There are now a total of 2875 endoresed chaplains received SBC endorsement through NAMB.  For more information about chaplaincy, visit www.namb.net/chaplain.
  • Southern Baptists established more than 1,458 new congregations in 2008.
  • NAMB's missionary count was 5,611on December 31, 2008.
  • 1,641high school and college students answered God's call to summer, sojourner, or semester missions.
  • An estimated 125,000 Southern Baptists participated in short-term projects through NAMB during the year.
  • In 2008, 21,728 Southern Baptist trained Disaster Relief volunteers from 42 state conventions prepared meals, repaired buildings, cleaned storm debris, and purified water. More than 5,800new Disaster Relief volunteers were trained.
  • World Changers summer mission opportunities saw more than 22,096 participants in 95projects. PowerPlant, a mission opportunity mobilizing students in church planting and missions, saw 1,189participants in 20projects. Together these ministries made 14,757 presentations of the gospel resulting in 997 recorded professions of faith.
